Short video from Reuters by way of Scientific America, Beijing Goes Green For Olympics.
The video briefly discusses the airborne particle problems posed by factory pollution and sandstorms, as well as the measures that China's government is taking to to reduce airborne particles. A little yawn-inducing, but at then out of nowhere the reporter mentions that "even officials admit that all the changes were somewhat cosmetic and did not go far enough to green the city."

Will: thanks for posting the video. I'm afraid sometimes "going green" is taken a little too literally in China and is equated with greenery. Not enough was done to clean-up the air for the Beijing Olympics. China made a huge investment in striving for clean air, but the problem was simply too massive and compounded by Beijinger's suicidal love affair with the car. I suspect the temporary, extraordinary efforts which will be put in place shortly will help a lot, but post-Olympics opaque skies will return.
